The good: 1. The opening and the ending of the series are great, the music is catchy and the visuals are stunning. 2. The characters are true to their original manga and anime designs and counterparts where it matters most while updating things to a more modern time frame. 3. The story is much more compact then the original 73 episode series. The bad: 1. The story ends on kind of a cliffhanger but the story did as well so that is just how it goes. 2. Disney having the global distribution rights to this series absolutely destroyed any chance of it building a real audience because they split 12episodes into 2 6 episode short runs and had a solid few months between each part. In the long run it might grab more eyes now that it is all out there but in the short term it is almost DOA.

Review:
Cat's Eye the manga was an early 80's Master Thief style series so it follows all those kinds of tropes, as well as the things that were just popular in the early 80s in Japan. Rival thieves, secret identities, messy relationships with police officers, crime syndicates, the whole gamut.

This series is a great update to that but at it's core it is 100% still a Master Thief story with some extra plot to tell us that they are the protagonists and the good guys and even the cops are not bad guys for wanting to catch them. If this is your jam then you will be sucked in and enjoy the series.
