This anime is very underrated. Ao no Orchestra Season 2 may not have the most unique story, and at times it can feel predictable, especially if you’re familiar with music or school competition themes. However, I still enjoyed it because I personally like this kind of character-driven, slow-burn storytelling. The art style fits the story really well. It’s not overly flashy, but the character expressions are detailed and expressive, which helps convey the emotions during both dialogue and performance scenes. The characters feel quite well-rounded. They have their own strengths and weaknesses, and their struggles—especially with pressure, expectations, and self-doubt—feel relatable. Their reactions to situations also feelnatural and grounded, which makes the story more immersive.
One of the strongest aspects is definitely the music. The orchestral performances add a lot of emotional weight to the scenes and elevate the overall experience.
The pacing is on the slower side, which might not be for everyone. Some people might find it boring or too drawn out. However, that same pacing allows the story to develop its characters more deeply.
Overall, I think this series will be enjoyed by people who like music-themed anime and character-focused stories. But for those who prefer fast-paced plots or lots of action, this might not be their cup of tea
