Review of Ya Boy Kongming!
who would have thought that the isekai anime where a chinese tactician reincarnates in modern shibuya was about the struggles of surviving in the music industry? jokes aside, paripi koumei was SO FUN!!!! following eiko on her journey is a awesome experience, seeing her advance and REALLY feeling that she is taking steps forwards each episode. the rest of the cast are great complements to eiko and to the plot in general, basically each one of them singing a different music genre (pop, rap, rock) while also having their own interesting journeys. talking about the songs... THEY'RE AMAZING. i always would almost cry everytime eiko startedsinging, her voice is just so easy to get you emotional. couldn't stop myself from singing "HEY DJ!" along with the ending at the end of each episode lol
the character design is one of the things that really caught my attention and i think, one of the most notable things that made me want to start this anime. everyone is just so full of personality even only from their looks, especially their outfits, since we're talking about an anime that takes place in shibuya. i don't know much about fashion myself, but i'm pretty sure their outfits are very accurate to a mix of 90's street fashion and modern street fashion (the bucket hats, oversized hoodies, etc).
on the whole, paripi koumei is an super good and entertaining anime, and if you like unique characters and good music, this one is for you!
