Review of Horimiya

This is one of those animes that had so much potential, and I wish I could rank this higher but I just cant. This review contains minor spoilers ~ Horimiya, an anime where we know who the main couple are even before starting the show,which isn’t a bad trope if handled well with reasonable progress. The first few episodes were so good and I was ready to rank it a 9 or a 10. The way the story made me feel butterflies and fuzzy. It was just too wholesome and refreshing with no fanservice and well written characters…until we get to episode 8 and everything becomes messywith our main girl, Hori. Now Hori is one of those characters that could’ve been something but the writer chose to make her controlling and unstable. Most of her actions didnt make sense, the way she would get mad at Miyamura without any reason ~ ex. that one scene where she ties his hair and the girls start complimenting him, but Hori blaming Miyamura for it and slaps him ~ I’m disappointed because what started as a mature well written relationship, ended up becoming so toxic. I was shipping Hori and Miyamura at the beginning but by the end of it I really think Miyamura deserves someone way better.
