Mermaid Line · review
A nice, perfectly fine compilation of stories. The stories are written well enough, and the semi tragic mermaid theming is done well, but you've probably read plenty of stories that are more interesting moment to moment. The art is decent, sometimes good, even. The characters are mostly drawn in an engaging way with character designs that demonstrate who the character is. Having said that, the art style is a little odd at times. Basically anytime someone smiles, it seems a little off. There's a sense of heart in the premises that shines through despite how middle of the road the rest is. Part of this is from theslightly more realistic tone. The characters take with certain situations. This is what makes the manga a little bit unique, paired with the tragedy of the stories.
This is a quick enough read that I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant hour. If you're mostly looking for something fluffy, you'll kind of find it here, though this compilation is better for people who like a bit of pain in their romance.
