Char Aznable couldn’t care less as long as he can fight Amuro Ray. In a way, this provides commentary on the film’s main idea, which is to bring an end to Amuro and Char’s rivalry, no matter how contrived the means. Two mains problems I have with it: Characters are killed off too easily, and the ending doesn’t have the impact it should. Newtype energy seems to be capable of doing literally anything the story needs it to do at any particular moment. I like the concept of Newtypes, but there should be defined limits and proper explanations for how it works so that when itkicks in it doesn’t feel like a cop-out. Regardless, a good film, unique in how it never stops moving.
