Worst Soulmate Ever: Proposal · review
The story becomes less chaotic in this second volume, but I think....it makes the entire story worse? Okay, that might be a bit too uncharitable. The first three chapters, the hot springs, was the story at its best. There's banter, there's humor, there's affection and understanding. The smut is as lewd as it is playful. But then....the story replaces the banter and comedy with a heavy dose of drama. There's a marriage proposal, there's relationship anxiety, there's omega prejudice, there's a love rival... This sudden shift of genre injects new dimensions for both main characters--and normally I'd enjoy the vulnerability and nuance of their personalities. However they are REALLYnot meshing with the personalities from the first volume. It feels like the couple from the first and the second are different people.
The art decay in the second volume didn't help.
Overall, this is still an okay read, but it's also a noticeably worse sequel DESPITE the happy ending. And that's...a rarity, for me.
