Blue Hearts · review
One thing that comes to my mind after I read this manga up to chapter 30 and went to checked the MAL page for Blue Hearts is.. "Wow.. is this for real? So few people have been reading this one compared to ReLIFE? How come a lot of people love ReLIFE but doesn't like (or maybe haven't heard) Blue Hearts?" The story of Blue Hearts actually takes the same setting as ReLIFE being in high school. Difference is, this time its a real world without supernatural stuffs like the pill on ReLIFE. But what can I say? The story is great, the art also remains wonderful asalways. The plot? For me, it's even heavier than ReLIFE as this one even includes sexual violence, and suicide stuffs.
But you know what? Even with all those grim plots and all, this manga is still so heartwarming. The way it shows you just what a "friendship" really means really touched my heart as a person who experienced in his school life what it feels to be betrayed by your so-called "best friends". Even the way Yayoi Sou-sensei depicting each and every character's problems are so structured even though the twists are kinda predictable.
I can proudly say that Blue Hearts is the best friendship manga I've ever read (granted I haven't read that much manga, but still).
Blue Hearts definitely needs to get across on a lot more people. Maybe if one day this manga also get an anime adaptation just like ReLIFE? Who knows.. but even only on a manga form, this one is truly a wonderful read especially for those who considered ReLIFE as one of their favourites.
