Monster Eater · review
Even though the story is average, I don’t think this anime has done anything to deserve such a low score. I genuinely believe it’s being treated unfairly. I don’t read manga or webtoons, but this anime already makes it clear what it is by having episodes that are only 13 minutes long it’s basically saying “I’m a casual, snack-type series.” The animation style is something I’ve never really seen before. Or rather, the animation mostly exists when characters are talking and moving their mouths. So in a way, this isn’t really a traditional anime you can think of it more like a voiced webtoon video. Even thoughonly 4 episodes have been released so far, it’s sitting around a 3.91 score. Normally, I finish an entire season before writing a review, but this is an exceptional case. There’s clearly an unfair situation here. This anime never claimed it would deliver something like Demon Slayer-level animation in the first place. In fact, for people who don’t enjoy reading webtoons, this style works really well.
Sure, the story might get at most a 7/10 from me, but giving it such a low score after only watching 4 episodes feels disrespectful to the voice actors and the studio’s innovative approach. I honestly don’t understand how anyone could rate it as low as 3.91 based on just four episodes.
I’ll give my final score as more episodes come out, but I definitely don’t think it deserves anything below a 4
