Spoiler warning

This review may discuss plot details.

You may be familiar with the trope of a guy pretending to be gay as a means to get closer to a girl that they like. A very scummy and cheap way to build trust with a girl. The MC in this story, Uichirou, does a similar thing, he crossdresses and pretends to be a girl so that he can get closer to Tamako, whos androphobic (fear of men). He desperately wants to drop the act and tell Tamako the truth that he's actually a boy, but can't bring himself to do it. However, turns out Tamako ISN'T androphobic but plays along just to teaseand admire Uichirou and his cute ass crossdressing. That's the synopsis.

As for the review? TLDR: Its great! Wholesome read with great characters and a very cute art style.

A big gripe I have with many crossdressing or genderbend manga is that when the guy gets turned into a girl, all of their masculine traits vanish into thin air, and their character is basically identical to that of a girl. The only difference being that the crossdressing/genderbent character has the little fun fact that they identify as a boy, but eventually you and all the characters in the story kind of forget that he ever was a dude and just treat them as the typical cute anime girl that they were written to be.

While Uichirou is very feminine, he still displays typical masculine behaviours typical to a boy his age, he is, as the manga name would suggest, a very faithful "Josou Danshi". He has a crass sense of humour, he likes playing sports, and most importantly, he wants to show off his cool side to his crush. Of course, this masculine image is tainted by just how cute he is and the hijinks that Tamako puts him through, but the story frequently reminds us that he truly is an innocent boy at heart and I love that!

Can't say the same for Tamako; she's a straight-up menace. Her perverted antics contrast her love interest's innocent demeanour very nicely, and she acts as the driving force for all the embarrassing stuff that Uichirou has to go through every chapter. As sadistic as she can be sometimes with her harrassment, her obsession with Uichirou feels almost justified because Uichirou is just that cute.

Besides the main couple, the side characters are also colourful and fun. Mori is a super outgoing gyaru who's secretly a hardcore otaku who stans Uichirou (lol). There's also Uichirou's rival, Oniki, whos jealous of Uichirou and ends up crossdressing to get Tamako's attention, just to get hooked on dressing in drag unironically. (Which consequentially gets the attention of another love interest mweheheh)

There's a really great cast of characters in this manga and I really hope that this gets more support because I really do think that this is a hidden gem for anyone who likes crossdressing/genderbend manga. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but its a novel spin of the typical tropes of a genderbend manga. It's a very comfy read so far, and I can't see myself getting enough of it anytime soon.

If you read it and you're like me, consider showing your support in any way you can! We can't have this series get cancelled so early in its life.
