Review of Attack on Titan
Why I Don't Recommend One of the Most Popular Animes of All Time I find the dialogue in Attack on Titan unbearable. It feels like the anime equivalent of a Mexican soap opera, complete with bizarre, over-the-top camera angles whenever characters are shouting dramatic lines. This melodramatic feel extends to the characters themselves. The characters are dull and border on being mere archetypes. The way their defining traits are presented is often heavy-handed and childish. For example, the constant emphasis on Armin being "the smart one" feels completely inorganic and forced. This makes me wonder if the author truly understands how smart or competent people act andsound, actually it makes me wonder if the author understands how people in general act and sound.
In summary, Attack on Titan comes across as a cheesy, edgy, and over-the-top soap opera, suffering from immature writing, particularly when it comes to its characters.
