Review of Land of the Lustrous
Land of the Lustrous is great, but incomplete. The anime seems to only cover a small portion of the source material. As it stands, it covers them very well. Phos is an interesting protagonist because of her inadequacy. Her physical condition and disposition has made her someone who is spoiled and irresponsible. However, there's a kindness and a sadness within as while she does want to be better everything that happened to her seem to literally say that she's incompetent. Then, there's the way she grows as a character. I won't spoil but her transformation can actually question the price of change. What will you sacrificefor that change and once you got what you wanted, will you be happy? That aside, the lore of Land of the Lustrous is interesting from the gems' structure to the Lunarians. That being said, the story is technically incomplete--barely scratching the surface. It ended with some foreshadowing (implying a second season) so if it turns out that there will be no sequel to answer the mysteries that would become one of the sad "read the manga to know more moments".
The CGI is pretty well done. While I personally don't like the OP sequence, everything that comes after is great. I love the opening song and OST.
Land of the Lustrous is a show with a lot of potential to become an epic tale. While incomplete for now, it executes its story rather well.
