Review of Devilman: Crybaby
I'm a little baffled on why this anime is ranked low, I watch a lot of anime over many many years and this is not a masterpiece but probably should be ranked around 8 something. The art is unique, the music is freaking 'slap' like kids nowadays would say. Yes, there are gores, however, that's part of the story and not done just for the sake of gore. The opening song and introduction have many analyses of where Earth get destroyed and how many it is destroyed. Are Ryo and Akira in a loop or birth and destruction? Are they being punished? There are manythemes of religion and themes in this and definitely not something to watch casually without turning on the brain but I still think it is not way too complicated to make your head hurt. The plot is very interesting and it is just sad people see the gore and do not pass that. Just the opening with inkblots and the opening and ending song is enough for me to find the playlist and listen over and over and now I'm on my second time watching this. The way this anime use theme of fear and rumors (not fact/truth) to further his agenda or goal may be similar to what is happening in this world right now.
