For an anime movie the story is pretty standard. This takes place sometime after GGO and a new technology has arrived, augmented reality. With this comes many new things and one of the popular things is a new game called ordinal scale. This is essentially like pokemon go's raids where you go to a location at a certain time and try to kill a boss within a certain time limit. Other than that the rest of the story is pretty simple. There are some bad guys ruining the fun and Kirito has to stop them. As for the new characters there isn't too much to say.One of the villains is seemingly a bit of a douche who goes around assaulting others to steal their memories even though that was completely unnecessary. The other is a father who thinking his dead daughter would be okay with him committing mass genocide to bring her back as an AI. The AI girl doesn't really do much for most of the movie so she really doesn't even need to be mentioned.

Oh by the way, the stealing memories thing is completely unnecessary. If they really are using deep learning as they claim to be all they really need to do is copy the memories and store them as data. Oh and considering that most people in the game SAO didn't interact with the girl and those that did probably forgot about her why would using their memories allow them to create an accurate version of her?

As for the visuals and sound, they were pretty good. It was high quality in that sense throughout the film which allowed for it to be enjoyable.

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed watching the film but it's nothing spectacular. If you're a fan of SAO you'll probably love it if not you might enjoy it.
