So. Yet another isekai. Let's see how this one does. The Rising of the Shield Hero starts off promising enough - compared to the other three cardinal heroes who are summoned into this fantasy world, Naofumi is a pretty average and unassuming guy when it comes to his personality. Introductions are made, and the premise of the world and its problems is made clear. Waves will come to destroy the world, and they need the heroes to help them out. Then the twist that makes everyone pay attention to the series. The Shield Hero gets set up and drifts into despair and hatred. I personally thought itwas a nice twist that doesn't happen *too* often. The fact that throughout his adventures he slowly comes to peace with what has happened to him was something I found interesting. He does good deeds in an unobtrusive and efficient manner unlike the other heroes, and does so because despite everything that happened to him, he feels that his power should be used to help people whenever possible.

There are some complaints about the loli party members, and the fact that there was little revenge against the people who framed him or a deeper delve into the problems of the world, such as corrupt lords and the slave trade.
Those complaints have a point, but for me it did little to detract from my enjoyment of the series.

The pace of the story was decent, there were exciting happenings with some degree of regularity, and we got to see different places and meet different people. For me, it made the series smooth in structure and this increased the fun I had while viewing it.

I can't say anything special about either the sound or art (although the first opening theme was pretty neat), and the CGI was... well, I did my best not too look to closely at it.

In any case, despite its negative points, of which I mention little here because others have already spoken enough about them, it had the sense of being an enjoyable series.

And at the end of the day, that's why I watch this - to have fun. On that front, the Rising of the Shield hero delivered.
