Tsuki Ga Kirei is a story about first love, young love and making love work through hardships. Story & Characters: The Story centers around Akane and Kotaru, two junior high students who through a series of coincidences fall in love. They have different hobbies, friends and situations. You follow their lives as they go through their last year before highschool, with love triangles, jealousy, nervousness and other feelings being major themes. The story is beautifully written, but has e few small bumps in it's road. One of these bumps is the lack of backstory for many of the characters. The characters themselves all have their ownpersonality and avoid falling into the usual tropes, but has little backstory. This is not a major problem as they are young and therefore wouldn't usually have a long story, but some more backstory would not have hurt. The story tackles many issues in a relatively realistic way and thereby gets easier to insert yourself into.
Art & Sound: The art is probably the big let down in this anime, with not the best drawn characters (though the background are well done) adn a large use of bad CGI animations for characters moving in the background, making it somewhat awkward to watch. The sound is solid, but not exactly enough to send me to heaven, just good.
Overall: I enjoyed the show a lot and watched everything in just two sessions. I can recommend this show for fans of slice of life or romance stories, and I ask not to judge the art to harshly.
Enjoy!
