RS Project: Rebirth Storage · review

This little mantra really caught my attention: "Lets make the Mech shows we want to watch!" Is it possible? Could it be? A mech show that doesn't care about genre conventions or 'Gundam Guidelines'? well... no... not really. You see, to this day I'm still not really sure what Rebirth Storage was trying to be; taken as a first episode, absolutely everything went wrong after the show's cold open. Taken as a preview, I'd say they crammed in WAY too much of the wrong information. I couldn't shake the feeling that the entire episode felt like one of those mid-season "recap episodes" that nobody really caresto watch because its just not interesting.
And thats the gist of it right there; its just not interesting.

It probably could have been; the cold open was nice, and with a decent establishment of setting, scenario, and some foreshadowing I may have been sold, but by the end of it I found it hard to care. Maybe, like Under the Dog, they were trying to test the waters with their new idea and put this out as a teaser of sorts, and their mission statement "make mech shows we actually like" gets a hats-off from me, but if by some miracle a modern mech show comes along that I DO like, it probably won't be Rebirth Storage.

Thanks for reading.

The Good:
-Animation was okay when not using CG
-Characters seemed like they could've been interesting

The Bad:
- nothin I haven't already said

The Ecchi:
- Umm, none.
