Review of The Rising of the Shield Hero
Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari,or The Rising of the Shield hero takes an unique approach to the Isekai genre, despite of making the MC overpowered from the get go,this anime focuses on the struggles of the MC as he gains more and more power. This is my first anime review and I will try to keep it as spoiler free as possible while highlighting the spoiler parts with an alert(if any). Story: 7/10 story is nothing great or phenomenal, just your daily bread and butter story of weak getting strong with some interesting plot changes. That said, this anime portrays how badass Isekai characters look, instead of the general goody two shoes approachalthough................*spoiler warning*the MC eventually becomes a goody two shoes................*spoiler warning*.
On a personal note,I wanted Kirito from SAO to be like the MC of this anime.
Art: 7/10
Pretty good but inconsistent, some of the battle scenes are really well animated while sometimes if falls of.
Sound: 9.5/10
Oh man I love the whole VA cast and all the openings and endings, also got some real good (but underused) background score.
Character: 7.2/10
Most of the MCs have been given a decent background and doesn't feel one dimensional, although I think they could have given a little more character depth to Malty and her dad and some other important characters as well, but is still decent for a 25 episode long anime.
Enjoyment: 8/10
I personally enjoyed this anime solely because of the little unique approach it takes to the overused Isekai genre,if you are looking for something good and wholesome to watch without stressing your brain too much, this is a great anime to go.
The main reason for this enjoyment lies beyond the talent of the director.
*Additional criteria* Direction:9.5/10
Man the direction of this anime is really great, the fillers are used very strategically and never feels boring, the storytelling of an overused generic plot can sometimes make a huge difference, and this anime is a prime example of this.
Final verdict:8/10
This is a great wholesome anime to watch over the weekend and brings something new to the overused isekai genre.
