Review of BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense.

The story is quite obviously a more lighthearted and goofy than that of others in the same genre. I watched it all (Season 1) in one afternoon and quite enjoyed it, found it funny and even felt my self jamming it out to some of the ost's. The story is quite simple to understand and follow along it's literately just the mc and friends playing a game's first 4 events and is never over explained or monologue to death. The art is nice and only one scene was obviously fully in CGI and stood out against the rest of the series fights and looked likea PlayStation cutscence. The rest of the art looks normal to other anime's and some parts where cutesie but that was only when the characters where chibi'd.

The sound was nice the op and ed didn't want me to skip it and sounded good. Their was one or two ost in a ep that I liked but they only played in fight's the rest was good and fit their scene's.

The characters where all unique and didn't feel forced and they didn't really developed during the story and remained the same the second last ep kinda felt like the where trying to go for a shounen main hero power up threw the feels move but it didn't go anywhere.

The comedy was good tho I can't talk about the subbed since I watched the dubbed and enjoyed it. Some jokes even had me go ooh I understand that or oh yeah that's similar to how me and my friends talk in game.

The main issues I had was the pet's and the best player in game. Why when the pets are introduced does only the mc and the mc's best friend get one and no one else? and the best player in game is the highest ranked and we the viewer are often told how strong he is and when he gets his first on screen fight it's 3 different attacks and oh I tried and he's done. Some smaller issues is that some times the mc shouts as a saw in the last 2 ep's where the subs showed her screaming something only to have no sound playing of the shout.

I feel that I liked it and will most likely watch it again and I do apologize for any poor English it's my second language and I don't use it that often in daily life. I recommend it not for a serious view but if you are looking for lighthearted watch It might be up your alley and a good watch for you.
