Review of Amnesia
TLDR; For actually understanding the story and characters, the otome is more recommended. The anime did a poor job of expressing this making everything fall flat. Art and music are good however. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I originally watched the show first. I thought it was interesting and I really liked the music and art. However, now I decided to read the otome and seriously? The anime leaves so many gaps and what made the story in the otome interesting. The anime just flounces around not really getting to the point with any of them. It is just confusing. Art: The art is probably the best part of the entire show.I love the gradients for coloring and the interesting eyes.
As for animation though.... What is going on with their walking?
It gets very shaky, making it very hard to look at. 9/10
Sound:
Thoroughly enjoyed it. The opening is still one of my favourites of all time. It is very catchy. The ending not as much.
Character:
In the anime they ruined majority of them T m T In the anime Shin never get better and showing how caring he is, they just make him this very forceful character and it's just bad. A lot of his story that was in the otome is never explained nor does it explain any of the character's story version of how she got amnesia -,-
The characters are rushed through and almost as if they anime creators didn't bat much of an eye to the otome.
They totally left Kent in the dust. There's so much they could have done and they barely gave him screen time.
The most closely tied to the otome would have to be Toma. He's also the only one where they went through his whole story but very fast...
Everyone else was screwed over very badly and it didn't help they tried to rush each character's story into 1 1/2- 2 eps -,- And they didn't even get their full story either... Like the first maybe 10 mins of playthrough of the otome...
Then there's the fact that in the anime Orion just pops in and out? Like what is with that? Orion is supposed to be around majority of the time..
Overall to just put it quickly the anime killed the characters making them more bland.
Enjoyment:
Ukyo's story probably was the most engaging episodes for me.
Before I knew about the anime, I was intrigued. I found the characters interesting all in their own ways and the art style really brought me in, but not having read the otome... oh boy... how did I like this anime? After reading, it became less appealing and making me question thoroughly why the anime cut out sooooo much. No wonder everyone finds it super confusing and hard to follow.
