After hearing the hype surrounding Parasyte, I decided to watch it. Here were my thoughts: Story: 6 I felt something was lacking in the story, especially towards the end. The story was simple, and there were a few plotholes that were never answered, which frustrated me. Ex: Where do the parasites come from? That should've been AT LEAST spoken of in this anime, as it's about Parasytes (hence the name). Why leave out such crucial information? I believe there was potential wasted here, and more could've been done with the story. Art: 7 There's not much I can say about the art- it's good. It's not the best, butnot terrible either. It's satisfactory.

Without a doubt, the OP and ED of Parasyte carried the show. They were amazing, and something I'll be adding to my playlist.

Characters: 3
To put it simply: Parasyte had AWFUL characters. Murano, the love interest of protagonist Shinichi, made me grimace every time she came on screen. She was a plot device, and nothing more. It frustrated me how weak-minded and indecisive she was, especially as the main love interest. Additionally, Parasyte butchered ALL characters, besides Migi. Migi was unique, intelligent, and surprisingly enjoyable to watch compared to other characters in this anime. With this, Parasyte DID have character development, but not much of it. I wish the characters had more dimension and personality.

Enjoyment: 8
Despite hating on this anime so heavily, I enjoyed it. I watched 24 episodes in 2 days (impressive for me). The fight scenes were interesting, and I enjoyed seeing how the Parasites interacted with humans and their individual abilities. That being said, though, the battles seemed repetitive. After watching 24 episodes, the battles seemed predictable and I wish there was more spice to them.

Overall: 7
Parasyte is a unique anime. It had a lot of potential, but I found that potential to be wasted. Don't get me wrong: the anime is good, however, relies too heavily on the action and forgets about the characters and plot.
