Nukazuke no Uta · review
This is just a short two-minute music video as part of the very long running "Minna no Uta" program, where different musicians perform child-friendly songs set to animation produced by different animators -- something that has been literally going on for decades. And, as one might expect, the results are always of varying quality. As for this one -- in my opinion it actually falls on the better end of the "Minna no Uta" scale. A video about pickles? Sure, why not! This is Japan, after all, they do videos about everyone and everything! The animationis done in the style of paper/cardboard cutouts, and in this case it is done quite well. Frankly, it's a style of animation I wish there was more of -- when done right, it's quite interesting (I guess the key word there is "when"). The story itself is nothing special - just a song aimed a children about pickles.
For the actual song: Not bad. It's the type of rock that I like (even if it is somewhat simplified down for children), and if I knew the name of the performer I might look them up to see what non-childrens songs they may have done.
If tallying between "good" Minna no Uta videos and "bad" ones - in this case, put a checkmark in the "good" column.
