Review of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc

I seldom give 10/10 ratings, in fact I don't ever remember if I have in the past for any anime , but Demon Slayer season 2 has to be 10/10 for me. This show is friggin amazing. The characters are amazing. The story is great. The action is top notch. The art is masterful. I am just blown away by how good this anime is. I'll try to make this review short. Characters: 10/10 The development for Tanjiro is really solid. He gets beaten down many times, but finds the strength again and again to stand. It's not unique or anything, but it's a typical shounenmasterpiece. Can't hate on that. Nezuko also gets a little development as well. I love the sibling's relationship. Tanjiro's homies Inosuke and Zenitsu are kind of put in the back, but it's alright. Not enough time in one season for everyone. However, what I really love is the backstories given for Tengen and the two demons Daki and Gyuutaro. Not gonna spoil it, but damn they nailed those 3 characters.

Art: 10/10 A+++++ Jesus Christ, if there's one thing I hate it's that this anime is too damn beautiful that when I go and watch other animes, it won't measure up (not that it's an issue, for me I prefer great characters/plot over art). But the colors. The drawings. The style of each person. The background. Yeah. It's a friggin masterpiece.

Sound/VA: 10/10 All the returning cast VA's are amazing as usual, but the one who stands out the most is Daki's VA, Miyuki. As for the music, it's good. Not as good as seaosn 1, but still really solid.

Action: 10/10 They took no shortcuts in any fight scenes. Everything is perfected. It's similar to season 1, which is what I love, but different in that...well let's just say there's lot more grit and gore. Things get real really fast.

Plot: 9/10 Why not 10/10? Don't get me wrong. It's still an amazing story, and better than most. For an 11 episode season, they really found a way to pack a ton of storylines. Does start out slightly slow, but that's alright. There are really just two grievances I have with how the plot was laid out. The first is that they put the two main demon's story at the end, so during the whole arc each fight felt less weighted. The second is the unexplained power ups of Tanjiro and co. Sometimes it seems they can just "become stronger" without explanations. That said, the story didn't go the way I thought it would. I won't spoil it, but I really thought they were going to a certain route like most shounen and let the good guys win...but man it was an amazing grind with amazing pay off.

So that said, over all 10/10 and a must watch. At the very least, it's at least equal to season 1, although I rank it higher since it's more fast paced with better characters. I don't read manga's, but I'm so tempted just to see what happens next. No time unfortunately. Gaahh. Can't wait until season 3!
