This seems like an adaptation of a novel, but since I have never read the source, I will not comment on how this work does as an adapatation. General Plot: This donghua is a sci-fi fantasy cultivation story. The MC is an orphan aspiring to develop his powers and become a famed [crafter/technologist]. While the MC is resourceful and already a decently skilled technologist, his spirit root awakening percentage is low, leading him to be enrolled at a prep academy as part of the "commoner" class. Soon after the enrollment, he encounters a spirit(?) who wants to take over his body by "soul-washing" (kinda like brainwashing)him (basically force him to live through the spirit's 40k years of memories to erase his sense of self. At the last minute, the MC reawaken's his sense of self and is able to prevent himself from being taken over. His experiences of those 40k years helps his spirit root awakening percentage. Along with his perserverance and hard work, he successfully begins his path to fulfil his dream.

This donghua is basically a prologue to the actual story. The MC experiences 40k years of "soul-washing" (namesake of this donghua), and uses this knowledge and experience to slowly strengthen himself. This premise and setting are not unique, though a bit unusual in the cultivation type stories. The MC is portrayed as hardworking (pretty normal trait), smart and resourceful. All of these are a bit different from what we normally see in these stories.

The character models and action are quite good in this donghua. The fights, especially the group fights are not bad.

If you want to watch/enjoy sci-fi type cultivation stories, this is a must watch.
