Review of The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash
Kawaii! So cute, so wholesome. The Weakest Tamer is a non-standard isekai story where the main character is unexpectedly weak, so instead of tons of usual fighting stuff, this isekai gives us cute slice of life along with survival themes. Animation / Art / General Visuals - 8/10 ----------------------------------------------- Good art and animations across the board. The show features mostly slice of life stuff which involves pretty mundane activities, but the good quality animations really add some weight to everything we see, and really brings the story to life. Sound / Music / Voice Acting - 8/10------------------------------------------
Lovely OP's and ED's, and nice music throughout with solid voice acting.
Story - 8/10
-------------
The Weakest Tamer is a fantasy isekai story, but it's quite different from most others in the genre. Unlike the common trope where the protagonist gets special powers or is overwhelmingly capable because of past memories, this show instead gives us a protagonist that is weaker than most. And their isekai past gives them no more than very occasional subconscious bits of information.
So instead of our MC going on some crazy adventure where they save the world, in Weakest Tamer, our protagonist is forced to run away from home as a child and survive in the wilderness on their own, with no real powers or abilities.
As such there isn't much of an overarching story to the show, just a general desire for our MC to survive and find a place for themselves in the world. But that entire aspect is surprisingly well done, and we get some interesting storylines as they adventure further from their home village.
Characters - 8/10
---------------------
Ivy, our main character is an incredibly cute little girl who has no real powers or capabilities outside of an extreme weak taming skill. Nonetheless, they put in effort to learn to read and write, and study monsters and herbs and all kinds of survival tricks. Backed up by occasional past memories of their previous life, they're quite smart and capable. At least as far as a young child could be.
In her journeys she meets a cute little slime who becomes her best friend and keeps her company, and helps her stay sane as she adventures.
Eventually, as she discovers various villages and towns, other characters are introduced as well. Most friendly and nice, but there are also some villains for her to contest. Though the evil doers do not receive much screen time, existing more in the background.
The show is incredibly wholesome with its cast, which isn't surprising considering how cute our little protagonist is.

The Weakest Tamer is an incredibly cute and wholesome slice of life fantasy adventure. This is not some crazy battle shounen with epic storylines and overpowered characters. No. This is a cute story of a cute little girl who does her best to survive in a world that seems to reject her.
