Review of Attack on Titan: Final Season - The Final Chapters

Ratings Characters: 10; The character, Eren Yeager, is portrayal as a child that was raised in a world tained by discrimination and hatred. Born innocent but was deemed a demon by a world he never knew of and over time establishing that genocide is the only way for true peace for their people. Towards the end of the story, Eren talked about how he was "a slave to freedom". This is completely wrong as we get to learn that he had the option to simply run away and live a simple life with Mikasa. Eren is a slave to FATE, not freedom. In the conversation betweenhim and Armin, he literally said that no matter what he tried to do, he could only see ONE FUTURE and it was all predetermined. Therefore, all his efforts were in vain.

Story: 9, While not specifically stated, there is a clear inspiration taken from the events occured in WW2 during the writing of AOT. The establishment of internment camps for Eldians reminiscent of WW2 wartime practices on the Jews and having hate driven into kids making them, from a young age, prepare for military life (early AOT). Anyways, in my interpretation of the final episode, Eren's goal with the Rumbling isn't simply to destroy the whole world for the sake of his people, his goal with the genocide is to unite the entire world against him. If he wanted to create the longest peace possible for his people, then he would've completed the rumbling instead of stopping at 80%. In the end, his plan ultimately failed and his efforts to safeguard the future generations of Eldians inadvertently backfired when the Eldian descendants was nuked by the Marley survivors. The plot itself taught me personally a lesson about life: Peace will never exist. Humans will never learn and will repeat the same destructive patterns, no matter the time and space. History will repeat itself, we are incapable of coexist with one another.

Sound: 9, Perfect placement for all the OSTs in this episode to heighten the moment even more. Sequences synced music to the action on screen perfectly right down to the second which is something that animation alone can't do

Art & Animation: 10, the last episode was animated perfectly with a balance between CGI blending and 2D animation. I am really glad that they took in consideration the negative comments regarding CGI in the first part of the special.

Overall: 10, To the boy who sought freedom, it has been a nice 10 years journey. Goodbye 🕊️
