Review of Suicide Squad Isekai
DC & Anime, can it work? Sure, it worked surprisingly well for me, although the series also has its weaker moments. The series works by throwing DC characters into fantasy (as the name of the series itself says - Isekai), which I was a little afraid of, because DC ("an offshoot of Gotham") is more of a world that is still relatively down to earth when it comes to magic, but the creators kept it in a reasonable compromise and when there was some magic or other mythical things, it looked at least COOL! The main driving force is, as usual, the characters, whose characterand choice for the series is great, especially Harley and Clayface are excellently worked out here, on the other hand Amanda works wonderfully in the opposite direction and even from the short footage she got here I "hated" her again (but the ending was entertaining). Nanu could have had more funny scenes here and Deathshot seemed a bit bricked to me, but they still work well here. I also have to praise how they managed to connect the flashbacks with the Joker with the plot in the fantasy world, even though it was quite straightforward. The first 7 episodes worked great anyway, the eighth was the weaker part before the end and the last two episodes were again a nice spectacle that brought a major twist and change in the story (which I found very rushed, because they need to end it quickly), but I don't have a big problem with that. The final battle looked nice, but in some parts it suddenly felt a bit like a children's series, where the heroes win with a snap of their fingers and have to get brand new suits for greater effect (but I say visually nice, so I don't want to complain). Although it is not a flawless series and clearly, it seems that DC wanted to graft a story into the anime, but I enjoyed it the whole time and would like to watch a possible second season.
