This story has quite an interesting premise and similarly interesting worldbuilding. The pacing is steady, calmly fleshing out the bonds between the main characters while also exploring the darker undertones of the setting and the homunculus. The characters are written to be intentionally flat-looking, but they are actually hiding a bit of depth. Their interactions are gentle, yet somewhat melancholic. It's a bit sad that this is only a single volume. I can see a lot of potential being explored with this setting. But at the same time I do feel like this is enough. The story has achieved what it sets out to do.
