I'm Only for You · review
I must admit that I feel a little bit of forcefulness from the seme, Ryohei's side of the narrative. It's as if that the story is not only trying to convince Yuuma, the uke, but also us the readers and even Ryohei himself. "don't you see? Ryohei really loves Yuuma! He even feels insecure and clingy because of it! He absolutely cherishes Yuuma and there's no way he's just playing around!" If this is coming from Yuuma's perspective, I'd hate it so much. But luckily this comes from Ryohei's narrative, so instead it becomes a nice refreshing change. This story is also a nice progression from the firstvolume. I love how the story takes the emotional beats of the first volume and doesn't reverse it for the sake of drama, but simply carries it forward. And I outright adore that most of this volume is just the two living well and loving each other blissfully. There are still problems and conflicts and insecurity, but none of them feels like a rehash of the first volume.
Alongside their growing relationship, we also get to see more facets of the two main characters' life, as well as seeing the developments of their psyche. I don't think it's enough, particularly Yuuma's side of things, but it's very welcomed nonetheless.
And again, we're seeing a lot more of what's good about the first volume. There's a lot more of Ryohei being attached to Yuuma, expressing his vulnerability, and also some hot steamy sex. There is more than just passion and attachment in this volume. There's understanding, intimacy, and warmth.
It's a notable improvement of a story that's already been very good.
