This review only covers the first 9 chapters, and disregards the existence of the second volume. (As of writing this I don't think you can even access an English translation of the last 4 chapters, so it's basically a review for the entire series as it stands. Details at end.) Taking just the first 9 chapters into account, this is one of my favorite Hayakawa Nojiko works. The characters are very interesting to me (a smart jock with a tenative hold on his aggression + a stepforward smiler hiding his emotional turmoil), and the way conflicts are built up and information is delivered feels very satisfying.There's a lot of domestic moments, a lot of drama, and sharp romantic tension.

If you don't know Japanese (or another language someone might have translated this into) you currently won't have an ending, but I enjoy imagining my own endings anyway. If you're like me or it just doesn't bother you, this can be a very nice read. There are plenty of memorable moments and I find myself coming back to it often.

I read the translation from Entwined Trees Scans, which decided to stop at chapter 9 because the ending ends up being (vague spoilers) a lot of assault apologism (you can read about it here https://entwinedtrees.com/dropping-yoake-ni-furu/). I completely agree with their decision, and think the story is better left as-is.
