Review of Parasyte: The Maxim
Even if it is my first anime review ever made, I will try to explain my opinion about it as much as I can. First of all, the concept is not something that is totally different from other animes in its genre. But I realized that a concept doesn't have to be totally different just to be outsanding. The real example (at least for me) is this anime. It gave me a feel that it is similar to Death Note and Tokyo Ghoul, but somehow it is still very different. It is like a paradox, which is exactly why I think this anime hassomething in it that makes it so good. I liked that it had a lot the phylosophical thoughts. You realise that in this world there are so many different perspectives and yet we, human beings, try to find out which one is true, bad or "normal". How can we possibly know, when everything is subjective? How we differentiate the bad from wrong, the enemy from friend? And how can we justify our actions as bad or as good? These are some questions that can be found in this anime. There are also pshyhological thought also, not only phylosophical.
The story is something that makes you think about everyday life, and our meaning as human beings. The anime has a cliffhanger at the end of almost every episode, which makes you want to watch more and more, and it makes you curious. The soundratck in this anime is exactly what it needs. The animation is also great, character development very good (at least for the MC, Tamura and Migi). Making it short, I really enjoyed this anime and I recommend it to everyone who likes action combined with phylosophycal/psyhological thoughts.
