Review of The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.
TL;DR: Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan is a brilliantly funny, creative, exciting comedy anime that will keep you entertained in its short-form episodes that are always worth a watch, even if you don't usually like comedy anime. (This is my first review. Minor spoilers ahead.) Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan (I'm going to call it "Saiki K." in the rest of this review) is a comedy anime about a psychic high school student who does his best to keep himself average and unnoticed by everyone else so that they don't find out that he's a psychic. Story: 9/10 The story is pretty cool. Saiki is a smart guy who'sall-powerful and the whole concept is very smart and leads to lots of funny opportunities. Not only is he trying to avoid attention, but he's also trying to save others (typically in situations he might've caused) and deal with everyone else. Yare yare. There are lots of funny supporting characters that constantly distracting Saiki from being able to live his quiet life, that are all unique, (but some get a little repetitive like Mera, who just eats a lot 'cuz she's poor) and make the show funny and truly entertaining.
Art: 7/10
The art is... well, it's kinda just anime art. It's not really anything special. Some of the little freeze frames and transitions are well designed but in general, it's just not really unique. It's about the same quality as your other average anime.
Sound: 9/10
To be honest, the music in the show itself wasn't really notable. But I absolutely LOVE the outro, (Ψです I LIKE YOU) which is thankfully on Spotify because I listen to that one all the time. The little short transition songs in the compilation episodes (I watched Saiki K. on Netflix) are also really good, and I just generally liked the music.
Character: 10/10
Saiki himself is an amazing character!! He's one of my favorites in all anime I've seen so far. The supporting characters can be a teeny bit repetitive but for characters like Mera, that's kind of the point of her character anyway so I don't think it detracts from the quality of the story. I also really like the supporting main characters (Kaido & Nendo) because they are a big part of Saiki's story and I love it.
Enjoyment: 10/10
At this point, I rarely laugh out loud at anything. Actual in-person jokes are just about it. So when a comedy anime makes me laugh multiple times an episode, you know it's funny. I loved watching this show, and I wish I could watch it for the first time again. I loved this show and I'm excited to watch season 2.
Overall: 9/10
This anime is one of my favorites. It's not perfect by any means, but it's very close, and I love it so much. It's definitely worth a watch if the premise at all interests you, so please give it a try. :)
