Review of Devilman: Crybaby

A unique story about a less unique setting and world where things and the world slowly crumble. It's a realistic take on mob mentality, seeing other people or beings as "the other" to demonize them, metaphorically and in this show's case literally i guess. The best thing about the show are the sound track and the way it is used to emphasize the visuals. The storytelling being not just using visual language and merely using audio as support, but rather making it an integral part. Or maybe Im just misremembering how good some scenes were with the respective songs. The show has gratuitous violence, sex etc. but it partlymakes sense, showing us some of the ugly parts of humanity.

It's not a masterpiece as some would claim, but you can see why the original work inspired other darker mangas/shows.

On the whole I'd say if you want to listen to a soundtrack thats really good and watch an edgy, but also a bit thought provoking show, go for it
