Review of Devilman: Crybaby

I just finished watching this, and... I have no idea how this has an even remotely positive score. Spoiler Free. The animation is wacky, with some of it being good and the rest being bad. We get still frames or non-animated characters frequently. If there's something to like, it might be the fan service, which we see a lot of. The characters don't develop all that much, or we see wild changes which make you wonder if they even have a baseline character. Our MC doesn't develop, then kind of changes and undoes that change at the end. I thought there might have been some kindof inherent super power, but it's just the character doing as the plot commands. There's also the character's ability to fight, which just changes randomly.

When it comes to the story... I've got nothing good to say. The main character thinks or doesn't think at the plot's convenience, mass death is ignored unless it's a plot point, characters do non-sensical things, our main character goes to achieve a goal then comes back to the starting point with no reason for the change other than plot, the 'masses' commit non-sensical violence over and over again. I don't even understand what the main villain was trying to accomplish. Sure, it was told to us shortly before the ending, but even that does not make sense.

Ultimately, don't watch this if you want to maintain your sanity.
