Review of Higurashi: When They Cry - Outbreak
'Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku: Outbreak' is definitely something a little different, if you are already familiar with the series as a whole. It does not offer much in the manner of psychological thriller, but it does expand on the greater lore of the setting and throws at you a scenario widely different from the others: one involving the military, a strange virus, and how that leads the village as a whole to fall into a violent paranoia rather than just the main cast. Because the scope is a lot more expanded, less focus is placed on the intra-personal conflicts of the main characters sothey can have a place in that greater scope.
I think I enjoyed my time with this movie, even if it went to places that I thought maybe deviated a bit from the core of what I believe Higurashi is, and I would recommend watching it.
