Review of Steins;Gate 0
Most of the gripes and harsh views people have in regards to it are fixed by remembering this is a continuation to Steins;Gate, not it's own thing, so there's no point in complaining about character development if we've seen their arcs previously. Like when we see Itaru going through the same romance stuff Okarin had with female Rukako. It's tiresome. Some criticism is fair, Zero often loses itself in the pacing, and some episodes in the middle could've been meatier. But the wait is worth in the final episodes, so I don't think it's wasted time. The lack of Kurisu really hurts Okarin as a character, butthat's kind of the point. Maho was in no way supposed to fill her role, the show is very self aware at this point.
Now, the conspiracies and the plot is a lot weaker, no defending it there, specially Kagari, she was VERY mishandled, not to mention a weak character.
Thinking critically I should lower the score down to maybe a seven or even a six. But I won't because it's very enjoyable, the best parts were fan service it's true. And I'll admit I fell for it, I got hyped seeing Kyouma and shit.
But it's not cheap, there's enough originality to make it more than nods to something better. Stein's;Gate 0 knows how to use Stein's;Gate's strengths for itself, and I'll give them merit for that.
