I’m not entirely sure why is this one’s rated so low. That is, unless the answer to that is people rating show obviously for kids by standards for shows for older audience. And judged by the standards for kids show, it’s doing pretty well. It’s doesn’t have as stupid writing as cartoons for children tend to have, and although it has some cheesy moments, it’s fine enough to be entertaining even for an adult if you’re looking into some non-complicated stuff to play in the background while multitasking. Which is something I couldn’t do if it was dumb. It even has some surprising moments, especially consideringthis was made with marketing not only in Japan but also in America in mind. Most noticeable with the main characters, as they are introduced as sort of soldiers for the baddies as they god tricked to think they are the heroes. Which sound relatively normal, but the show alludes to the “unspeakable things” that were done multiple times, pretty much implying they’re practically war criminals. Sure, it might be overthinking it a bit, but one of the main conflicts stems from having to deal with what you believed to be the reality being completely reversed. Of course, done in more mild way then a psychological seinen would portray such theme, but still preferable then the protagonist trio being just some heroic kids with innocent background.

Future Avengers employs some clichés, for example the awful “character sacrifices themselves for a dramatic moment as the others lament the demise, only for said character to turn out just fine mere seconds later, completely nullifying previous emotional moment”. Well, I’d be surprised if anyone actually thought they would kill off the main characters.

On the other hand, my favourite moments have to be the episodes featuring Deadpool, and I loved how they kept him as a fourth wall breaking character.

The animation is certainly not bad, and again, when taking into consideration that this is pretty much just a morning cartoon, it’s definitely above average for the genre. Unsurprisingly, as Madhouse worked on this.
