Review of Devilman: Crybaby

this anime was very, very short, so i'll keep this review concise. i really liked it. i really did. my favorite thing about this anime is definitely the animation. LORD! the animation. the buttery smooth frames? the detail when there's a fight? the ART STYLE?! mwah. chef's kiss. i love it. it's SO good. also? the soundtrack. THE SOUNDTRACK. this anime has such a diverse soundtrack. and it's. so. so. so good. buddy ryo is my favorite, but they all do such a great job at setting up atmosphere for this anime. the characters (other than akira) are just okay. i like akira's characterization and personality alot, but everyone else is just fine (ryo is a little better, but he's still just lukewarm). the story took me on a really fun adventure, but the ending was not for me. i would be lying, though, if i didn't cry multiple times during this anime; there will be scenes that will haunt me forever.

if you're fine with the nudity and the gore, i highly recommend you give this one a watch. it's only 10 episodes, so it'll only take a bit over 3 hours to get through. it isn't for everyone, but i think it's at least worth giving a chance.
