This was an interesting slice-of-life show where a girl named Shirase is determined to go to Antartica to find her missing mother who never returned from the last expedition. Obviously it wasn't going to be easy but with some luck, determination and persevering all the harassment she received at school, she finally manages to secure a place in an expedition. She meets many friends along the way who also want some change in their lives and make the best of their youth. It's a fun comedy but also a touching show watching the characters interact from their struggle through highschool to the day they complete theexpedition. This isn't based on any Manga or light novel, a complete original short series by Madhouse.

The only gripe I had about the show was Japan conveniently making themselves look like victims of WWII as they do with their history books... Putting that aside, it's a great show to enjoy.
