i was hesitant to start this anime based on the art style, because let’s be real, it looks pretty goofy. once i did finally start it though i found myself quickly falling in love with the story and the characters. a lot of people complained about the plot, but i felt like it was sufficient enough! it had just the right amount of suspense, as well as reality. i mean, really, of course takemitchi is gonna be frustrating. he’s supposed to be a loser, and he’s put in these ridiculous situations where he’d never know how to overcome. however, being able to see his growththroughout the series is seriously rewarding. everyone complains about how much of a coward he is, but it’s realistically so. people forget that he’s a human with no real super power other than being able to time travel 12 years into the past, and even that’s pushing it. he’s a realistic character in the way that he acts, and throughout his trips through time we see him mature more and more.

the characters are memorable and amazing, i found myself loving all of them (eugh, even kisaki). the anime also has its comedic moments as well as its serious ones, it’s honestly a pretty good balance. the music is great, and the story is one that can’t help but make you cheer on takemitchi in his efforts to change the future and save everyone. not to mention the insane plot twists; seriously, this show kept me on my toes constantly. all in all, if you like to have fun watching anime, then you’ll like tokyo revengers. don’t take all the negative reviews so seriously, it’s such a great watch, and i cant wait for season two! :)
