Review of [Oshi No Ko]
This show represents in big part the most annoying aspects of Japanese storytelling, and it proves that ratings are not a reliable representation of quality, but of the average viewing habits, culture and expectations. The story is 90% plot contrivance, plot holes, inconsistencies, unnecessary forced drama, emotional rhetoric, and random nonsense just to increase a fake feeling of depth/complexity. Simply put: POORLY WRITTEN. What on heaven earth and hell can anybody ever possibly see in it to rate it so high? I peeked into the plot of the rest of the story and it's absolutely LAUGHABLE in all possible ways. Let's be honest, the only reason why s... like thisget such a high rating is because good stories are EXTREMELY rare. People are starving for good storytelling, and in the desperation of anybody who's starving, even crap like this tastes amazing.
Also, the lack of high-level storytelling makes us used to consider mid-level as "peak".
I find it baffling and sad that there are 3 seasons of this, while MUCH better stuff (particularly among Korean storytelling) don't get even one. What a shame.
