Like the first movie, this movie is a recap of the second half of the original anime. Once again, I don't normally recommend or have patience for these types of movies but since it's been so long since I saw the original anime, I had forgotten enough and could appreciate the vibe enough that I enjoyed this movie. The ending is still very strong and I really do like it. I decided to watch the recap movies so that I could watch the subsequent movies and I'm left curious how the story could continue from here. I'm looking forward to finding that out. I thinkthat this movie had the same amount of impact that the original anime had when it concluded in terms of narrative. I would still recommend watching the anime instead of the recap movies, but if you're pressed for time, the recap movies are worth it in their own right. If you watched the anime recently and/or you don't like recap movies, you might want to skip the first two Madoka movies.
