Review of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009)

I’VE FINALLY DONE IT, I FINISHED ENDLESS EIGHT!!!!!!!! Ok, in all seriousness, the melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya season 2 isn’t nearly as bad as people say. It’s a solid 7/10 just like the first season, even with the inclusion of endless eight. It’s just such a bold and unique idea that I can’t bring myself to hate it, and it really drives home to point of how devastating and frustrating the time loop was for Yuki Nagato. I never really got into the whole ‘Haruhi-ism’ thing, I’m more of a casual fan, so maybe that’s why I’m not upset that this took up over half the season.Honestly, the endless eight episode is actually a pretty enjoyable one, so it wasn’t too hard to rewatch over and over again.

In case you were wondering, endless eight part 4 was my favourite of the 6 middle repeats (parts 2-7).

In conclusion, I thought this season was actually pretty good, though I certainly won’t ever be rewatching all 8 endless eights in a row (I’m probably just going to do 1, 4, and 8).
