'Macross F' Gets New Short Anime Film

The Air Macross F Live 2021 livestream program announced on Saturday that the Macross F anime series will receive a new short anime film in 2021. Titled Gekijouban Tanpen Macross Frontier: Toki no Meikyuu (Macross Frontier Film Short: Labyrinth of Time), the anime is scheduled to premiere with the Macross Δ: Zettai Live!!! film.

Shoji Kawamori returns at animation studio Satelight as the director, storyboarder, and scriptwriter. flying DOG is producing the music. Kawamori and Studio Nue are credited for the original story.

The 25-episode television anime aired from April to September in 2008 and received two recap movies in November 2009 and February 2011.

Kawamori and Studio Nue created the Macross franchise in 1982, beginning with a 36-episode television anime by Tatsunoko Production and subsequently producing multiple sequels and films in the following years. The latest installment in the franchise, Macross Δ: Gekijou no Walküre anime film, premiered in February 2018.
