'Class de 2-banme ni Kawaii Onnanoko to Tomodachi ni Natta' Announces Main Cast, Staff for 2026
Production company Asmik Ace opened an official site for the television anime adaptation of Takata's Class de 2-banme ni Kawaii Onnanoko to Tomodachi ni Natta (I Became Friends with the Second Cutest Girl in the Class.) light novel and revealed the main cast, staff, and a teaser visual (pictured) on Friday. The anime is scheduled to premiere in 2026.

Takata began penning the romantic comedy series, also known by its short title Kuranika, on the Kakuyomu website in November 2020. Kadokawa began publishing the novel under its Sneaker Bunko imprint with illustrations by Tom Osabe in December 2021. The seventh volume shipped in October 2024, with the 7.5 volume scheduled to be released on May 1. Kuranika has a cumulative 1 million copies of its volumes in circulation.
Rin Ono began serializing a manga adaptation on the Alive+ web magazine in July 2022. Kadokawa released the fifth volume in November 2024, with the sixth volume scheduled to ship on June 27.
Yen Press licensed the manga adaptation in English and will ship the first volume on June 24.
