Novel 'Kono Hon wo Nusumu Mono wa' Gets Anime Movie in 2026
Publishing company Kadokawa opened an official website for an anime movie adaptation of Nowaki Fukamidori's Kono Hon wo Nusumu Mono wa (Whoever Steals This Book) novel on Tuesday. The website also revealed the main staff, teaser visual (pictured), and a teaser trailer. The anime is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters in 2026.

Fukamidori published the fantasy mystery novel under the Kadokawa Bunko imprint in October 2020. Kakeru Sora serialized a manga adaptation in Young Ace magazine from December 2021 to March 2023. Kadokawa published the third and final volume in April 2023.
Yen Press has licensed the novel and its manga adaptation in English. The novel's volume was released on February 18, and the final manga volume went on sale in October 2024.
Synopsis
Descended from a long line of book collectors, high school student Mifuyu is surrounded by books in every aspect of her life. Her great-grandfather established the famous Mikura Hall, a library in the heart of town, and even the townspeople are all avid readers. There's just one problem—Mifuyu hates books! But when a thief in Mikura Hall triggers an ancient curse, she's left with no choice but to reclaim the stolen books herself...by entering the very stories she despises!
