The official website for the Ikebukuro West Gate Park television anime revealed two supporting cast members and a new key visual (pictured) on Friday. The production committee also announced that the broadcast will be delayed from July to October due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

A new member was introduced for each of the story's Ikebukuro-based gangs. Subaru Kimura (Haikyuu!!: To the Top!) was cast as Hiroto of the G-Boys, and Natsuki Hanae (Appare-Ranman!) as Isogai of the Red Engels.

The main cast and staff were announced in March. The series will be directed by Tomoaki Koshida (Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san) at Doga Kobo, with series composition by Fumihiko Shimo (Clannad) and character designs from Junichirou Taniguchi (Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun).

Ikebukuro West Gate Park is based on Ira Ishida's novel series of the same name. An 11-episode television drama starring Tomoyo Nagase, Ken Watanabe, and Satoshi Tsumabuki was adapted from the novels and aired in 2000. The drama received a manga adaptation that was serialized in Young Champion Magazine from July 2001 to November 2004 and eventually compiled into four individual volumes.
