Compilation Movie of 'Uma Musume: Pretty Derby - Road to the Top' Announced
Commemorating the release of Uma Musume: Pretty Derby - Shin Jidai no Tobira (Uma Musume: Pretty Derby - Beginning of a New Era) movie, a theatrical re-edit of the Uma Musume: Pretty Derby - Road to the Top net anime was announced on Sunday. The compilation movie, featuring new scenes, will have a two-week limited screening in theaters beginning May 10.
Road to the Top focuses on T.M. Opera O, Admire Vega, Narita Top Road, and other Uma Musume aiming to win the Classic competitions. The four-episode net anime streamed on the franchise's official YouTube channel from April 16 to May 7 last year. The episodes collectively garnered over 9 million views.
The 13-episode first season produced by P.A. Works aired in Spring 2018. The fourth and final Blu-ray volume bundled three special episodes in December that year.
Studio Kai produced the second season in Winter 2021. A short anime adaptation of Kumajet's Umayon 4-koma spin-off manga aired in Summer 2020.
The third season aired in 13 episodes in Fall 2023. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with subtitles. The Shin Jidai no Tobira (Beginning of a New Era) movie produced by CygamesPictures will open in theaters in Japan on May 24.
Cygames released the Uma Musume: Pretty Derby smartphone game on iOS and Android platforms in February 2021 and for PC the following month. The franchise follows anthropomorphized racing horses as girls with exceptional running capacity, who aim to win at the "Twinkle Series" sports event.
