New 'High School! Kimengumi' TV Anime Unveils New Cast, Staff, Theme Songs, Main Promo

The official website for the new television anime adaptation of Motoei Shinzawa's High School! Kimengumi (High School! Funny-face Club) manga revealed new cast, staff, the theme songs, main visual (pictured) and promotional video on Friday. The new anime will air on Fridays at 11:30 p.m. on Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block starting January 9, 2026.

Musical band BREIMEN (Dr. Stone: Science Future) is performing the opening theme song "Funky Spice," featuring TOMOO (City The Animation). Rikon Densetsu (Ramen Akaneko) is performing the ending theme "Suteki!!" Both theme songs are previewed in the promotional video below.

Kazuaki Seki (Ranma ½ (2024) opening sequence director) is helming the new anime at Seven. Shigeru Murakoshi (Zombieland Saga) is in charge of the series composition, while Yuka Abe (Fire Force: Season 2 animation director) is designing the characters.

Shinzawa serialized the original 3-nen Kimengumi (Third Year Funny-face Club) manga in Weekly Shounen Jump from October 1980 to April 1982, followed by the High School! Kimengumi sequel manga in the same magazine from April 1982 to July 1987. Shueisha published the 20th and final volume in February 1988.
