Light Novel 'Kaiko sareta Ankoku Heishi (30-dai) no Slow na Second Life' Gets TV Anime for Winter 2023

The wraparound band on the seventh volume of Rurekuchie's Kaiko sareta Ankoku Heishi (30-dai) no Slow na Second Life (The Slow Second Life of a Dismissed Dark Soldier (Age 30)) manga—adapting Rokujuuyon Okazawa's comedy fantasy light novel—announced a television anime on Wednesday (pictured right). The anime series will premiere in January 2023.

Okazawa began writing the series on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in November 2018. Kodansha began publishing the title under its K Lanobe Books label in August 2019, featuring illustrations by Sage Joh. The third volume shipped in March 2020.

Rurekuchie began serializing the manga in Young Magazine the 3rd in August 2019. Kodansha published the sixth volume on March 18. The light novel and manga has sold a cumulative 1 million copies combined.

Synopsis
The dark soldier, Dariel (30 years old), who can't use magic despite being in the Demon Lord's army, was fired for his lack of capacity. Having been raised by the previous Demon Lord himself, he finds that his adoptive brother, the new Demon Lord, has little use for him. However, after rescuing a village girl from a forest monster, Dariel is invited into her village and starts realizing that he may be considerably more powerful than what he thought...
